OCS has taught me countless things about myself. What I will take with me the most is the knowledge that I am not alone in anything that I do. I have an incredible support system back home, and I have someone watching me from above. Couple these things with the ability to rely on the candidates next to me, and I have been shocked by how far I can push myself.

Throughout OCS I learned a lot about myself. I learned through all the difficult obstacles that I can adapt and overcome. I learned that even when things seem impossible, even when I am too tired to continue, I always will. I can endure more than I had thought.

I often think how much knowing that I have to return to OCS is going to weigh on me throughout this upcoming year and I have concluded that it will be a mental burden, but it is something I take immense pride in. Next year will be the last steps toward a commission, so I am eager to get it completed.

I’m excited to be leaving and coming back next summer. I definitely have a better grasp, and got to talk to some seniors about PLC Seniors. The next time that I come back to Quantico for OCS I want to be at maximum physical condition and bring all of my liberty gear. We’ve had liberty twice so far, and both times, the rain POURED. So next summer I plan to bring an umbrella, as well as more collared shirts with matching slacks.

Upon leaving OCS I will be moving back to Los Angeles that following Monday and will be going to school, working and training. I try to take these things one step at a time and would like to finish OCS Juniors before thinking about coming back next year. However, this Monday is the “field meet” and the Juniors Company will be competing against the Seniors. I will be a part of the “Mile High Team” (on ropes) and plan on taking it to the Seniors all day!
Neese: Graduation Week part two

Now that OCS is all but complete for me it is kind of a strange feeling. All year long I have been waiting to come back here and attack OCS for the last time and now that it’s over it’s like, “wow.” The next part (being commissioned) involves no screaming or sweating. It is the most amazing feeling to look back on what I and my fellow candidates have accomplished here at OCS.
Candidate Miller dropped
13 August 2009 by Marine CorpsCandidate Miller was an officer candidate undergoing the training, screening and evaluation at Officer Candidates School during the second increment of the PLC Junior Program. However, he was released from training after
experiencing difficulty meeting the requirements to become a Marine Officer. Candidate Miller was most receptive to the guidance provided by Officer Candidates School and returned home.

In spite of the incredible rigors of OCS I have been extremely proud of my efforts so far during this program. I have been able to complete every graded exercise and rank in the top ten percent of my platoon. I have done all this in conditions that are completely foreign to me. I am very thankful for the members of my platoon I constantly rely on, and the letters I receive that remind me I can always work harder and go farther.
